Dear PS 97 Families,
Our school was approved for Model 2 (3 cohorts in 3 weeks cycle) with an exception made for students in 12:1:1 classrooms. Please see the Model 2 schedule below. Students in 12:1:1 classrooms who did not opt in for fully remote learning will attend every day. This model will allow us to comply with social distancing requirements for our students as well as ensure a safe arrival and dismissal.
We will have 2 arrival times - 8:30am (grades 3-5) and 8:45am (grades K-2). We will also have 2 dismissal times - 1:45pm (grades 3-5) and 1:55pm (grades K-2). Students in grades K-2 will have lunch in their classrooms at 11 am while students in grades 3-5 will have lunch in their classrooms at 12 pm. Lunch will be during instructional time. Movement breaks will be provided throughout the day.
All families who opted into blended learning model will receive their Group assignment in the STUDENTS' PS 97 EMAIL next week. We did our best to place siblings in the same group. However, if we missed someone, please let us know ASAP, so we could make the change. Please understand that group changes will only be made if space is available and in very special circumstances (ex. to match sibling schedule).
Remote and blended students' class schedule will be shared by the classroom teachers during the first week of school. All students will be expected to follow the schedule while working remotely. Teachers will be teaching live lessons on Google Meet at designated times as well as providing group and individual support during scheduled periods. We will be using Google Classroom to share all assignments with students and PupilPath to share the grades. PS 97 Grading Policy 2020-2021 will be shared with families during the first week of school.
We are still waiting for the first day of school to be announced by the Chancellor but currently expect to open September 10th.

As NYC prepares for what school looks like in the fall, on the assumption schools are open part time, meaning your child will be in school possibly 2 days a week, we need to know if:
1) You will choose to send your child to school and receive a combination of In-Person and Remote Learning at home
2) If you'd prefer to keep them home for 100% Remote Learning.
***Please note, if you decide to keep them home for 100% remote instruction, there will be other opportunities during the school year to change your preference and send them in part time.***
Please let us know immediately which of these two options you will choose by completing the Learning Preference Survey or call 718-935-2200 by August 7 so we can plan accordingly.
