Coronavirus UPDATES (Updated 3/31/2020)
We hope you are staying safe and positive during this difficult time. NYC and the staff of PS 97 are working very hard to provide our children and families with comprehensive educational experience while the NYC schools are closed. Please read the important information below carefully and email your teachers, our parent coordinator, or administrators with any questions (check teachers' websites or https://www.ps97.org/about/Contact-Us for email addresses.)
We would like to remind you that daily schedules provided by our teachers are suggested and NOT mandatory. We provide you with a daily schedule to help organize your child's day and to let you know when our teachers are available live to explain assignments, to answer questions, and to respond to your inquiries. Please ask your child to get up and move around, to exercise, and to take mental breaks during independent work time.
Please ensure that the work is completed for all subjects. All work will be graded based on standards. It will help us understand whether the students met their promotional goals, so please make sure that the quality of work is to your student's best ability. Please let the students do the work with minimal help from adults as it will allow our teachers assess the students and provide the appropriate help. Please utilize teachers' "live" periods to get any help your child needs in real time. All other times, teachers are reachable by email. Please know that teachers are not able to respond outside of school hours. If you have an urgent question, please email an administrator or our parent coordinator.
As per the order of Mayor Bill de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard A. Carranza, we will move towards a new Remote Learning Model for all school days until Spring Recess. Students will not report to school buildings for instruction during this time. School buildings are scheduled to reopen to students following Spring Recess on Monday, April 20, 2020.
If you need a device or if your device (including the one we issued) is not working, please fill out this request form and DOE will provide a device for you:

Getting Ready for Remote Learning
Our school started remote learning on Monday, March 23, 2020. Teachers are available to assist students and parents Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:20 p.m. Some of that time will be live (see class schedules) while the rest will be by email or through Google Classrooms. During student independent work time, teachers will be planning and uploading assignments, grading, taking attendance, and responding to emails. Students are expected to follow the daily schedule to the best of their ability. They will have a whole day to complete their assignments. Attendance will be recorded daily to ensure that everyone is participating in remote learning. Due to the various information that parents must learn in order to help their children with remote learning, we have broken down the process into step by step directions.
