Dear PS97 Families,

PS97 has always strived to create a safe and positive environment for all students. In an effort to continue to improve our school, staff at PS97 with the support of the PTA, has worked together to develop the Project Citizen Program. The primary goal of this program is to create a positive school climate that fosters being respectful, responsible, and ready to learn. Every month we focus on a theme. Themes include, but are not limited to, respect, friendship, kindness, good citizenship and self-esteem. Also, once school returns to normal, responsible students who set a positive example for other classmates receive Project Citizen Dollars, which they can use to buy items at a monthly student government run store. Finally, throughout the year teachers will nominate students who display great citizenship to be recognized at a special ceremony during our PTA meetings.

We want to do everything possible to support student learning. Research shows that when the home and school work together, students are more successful. Please review the monthly themes at home and encourage your child to be safe, respectful, and responsible.

Thank you for your continued support, together we can make great things happen!
